2     izinkomishi zemakharoni ephekiwe yangcwengisiswa

1     anyanisi oqotshiwe

½     tispuni ka galigi oqotshisisiwe

2  ½ izinkomishi zobisi

2     izinkomoshi ka chizi ograytiwe

¼     tispuni ka sawoti

¼     tispuni ka pelepele ogayiwe

1      tispuni ka mustadi phawuda

½     inkomishi yezimvuthu zesinkwa

Indlela Yokwenza

 1.    Faka imakharoni ephekiwe esitsheni sikahhaveni bese ukubeka eceleni.

2.    Ukwenziwa kukasosi: Ncibilikisa ibhotela ebhodweni eliphakathi nendawo. Thosa u-anyanisi nogaliki ngokushisa okuphakathi nendawo kuze kuthambe.

3.    Vuvuzela ufulawa phezu kwengxube ka-anyanisi, uqoqoze ekushiseni okuphansi, imizuzu-2.

4.    Kancane yengeza ubisi ugoqoze ize ingxube ishube, iqale ukugxabha.

5.    Yengeza ushizi ogrethiwe, i-mustard, uphepha no sawoti. Goqoza ukuze kuncibikale ushizi.

6.    Thela isosi phezu kwe-macaroni. Vuvuzela imvuthu yesinkwa, bese udasida nge-paprika.

7.    Bhaka imizuzu-30 kuze kube nsundu osagolide, kuze kugxabhe kancane.

8.    Seva nesaladi elikuhlaza umbala, nje ngesidlo sasemini noma ebusuku.

Ngeza ubumnamdi ngokuhlanganisa ubhekeni oqotshiwe kwi macaroni ephekiwe ngaphambi kokuthela isosi.

Serves 6 -8

Preheat oven to 180° C
Grease a medium-sized shallow ovenproof dish

Ingredients

2     cups macaroni, cooked and very well drained

4     TBSP butter

1     onion, chopped

½    teaspoon minced garlic

4     TBSP flour

2 ½ cups milk

2     cups grated cheddar cheese (mature cheddar is best)

¼     teaspoon salt

¼     teaspoon pepper (ground is best)

1     teaspoon mustard powder (optional)

½     cup bread crumbs

        paprika

 

Method

1. Place the cooked macaroni in the shallow ovenproof dish and set aside.

 2. Make the sauce: Melt butter in a medium-sized pot. Sauté the onion over medium heat until soft. Stir in the minced garlic.

 3. Sprinkle the flour over the onion mixture and stir over low heat for 2 minutes.

 4. Gradually add the milk stirring continuously until mixture has thickened and

    started to bubble.

5. Add the grated cheese, mustard, pepper and salt. Stir to melt cheese.

 6. Pour the sauce over the macaroni. Sprinkle with breadcrumbs and dust with

    paprika.

 7. Bake for 30 minutes until golden brown and bubbling gently.

  8. Serve with a green salad as a light lunch or supper.

 

Tip

To enhance flavour add some chopped bacon to the macaroni before pouring over the sauce.
